The Sounds of Silence

Listen. Listen closely.

It’s in between the news and aside from all the headlines. Listen to it carefully. It’s subtle but distinct. It’s covert but it's profound.

It’s the drums of war.

The unofficial headlong march to a third world war has begun, but mum’s the word.

The Americans are complaining about Syria and the Russians about America; while the Israeli’s complain about the Iranians as the Iranian’s accuse Israel.

There’s nothing new in that.

Perhaps not… but the body language is tense. The leaders hide behind their vainglorious masks of deceit and diplomacy as much as possible. Yet little tell-tale signs do escape that political vacuum. And the drum beat rolls.

And all the rhetoric in the world cannot hide the fact that the Middle-East is utterly imploding. Add to that a financially unstable world economy headed by persistent dire circumstances in the Eurozone and impending economic collapse in the United States; not to mention the rank poverty in other parts of the Middle East.

The Middle Eastern natives are restless – Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya. Syria we are all too familiar with. And the troubles in Syria have overshadowed the unrest in some of its neighbours – Lebanon, Iraq, even Turkey.

These are unprecedented times. The Arab Spring is a wellspring of past simmering discontent and age-old oppressions and counter-repressions: Christian v Muslim; Sunni v Shia; sectarian violence. And throw into that mix the most powerful institution on the planet that has the outward label of Christianity and headed by a fanciful clown who professes to know good.

Take a look around at our world leaders and think about who you trust?

Do you trust Obama? Do you trust the Eurozone? Do you trust Putin, the grade ‘A’ thug and ex-KGB man? Do you trust Rouhanni of Iran? Do you trust the Muslim brotherhood? Or do you trust Hezbollah? Or for that matter do you trust the Zionists and Netanyahu? Or do you, dear reader, trust Kim-Jong-un of North Korea?

Heaven help us all. And thankfully heaven will. For be of good cheer, said Jesus for he has already won the war; but not before some tribulation.

Hold on to your hats and keep your hearts clean, and wait, for the sound of the trumpet.
